The “Old Pool” in Rutland Vermont was built in 1929 and closed in 1972. I’ve had a number of requests for this one over the years, and I finally decided to go for it. Working from an old postcard image and vivid personal memories, it was a wild trip down memory lane to paint. Anyone who grew up swimming here has a story. It may be a parking lot now but for many like me, it’s still hallowed ground.
